The Dead Don't Die (2019)

Happy Halloween 2019! The IC team opts to watch Jim Jarmusch's meta-theatrical zombie parody The Dead Don't Die (now available for digital download), while imbibing "Zombies." This is the best batch/recipe Jon has found, as we like to drink these when we get Chinese Food. The team starts by discussing movies that have scared them (2:06), and Jon lays out the ground rules for the audience to "help" select/choose/force them to watch an actual scary movie (12:40). On to the film, Adam Driver's hyper-awareness of them being in a film only adds to the comedy of this cute zombie comedy. The all-star cast and crew (13:48) will keep you engaged without needing the scare factors of typical horror. The story keeps delivering on things you do not anticipate (25:01). The team is always surprised as Mike 'Pokes the Bear' with the negative reviews he finds on Rotten Tomatoes (40:15).

    • 1 oz. Light Rum
    • 1 oz. Dark Rum
    • ½ oz. Apricot Brandy
    • ½ oz. Overproof Rum
    • 2½ oz. Orange Juice
    • 2½ oz. Pineapple Juice
    • 1 oz. Lime Juice
    • ½ oz. Grenadine Syrup
    • Orange Slices
    • Mint Leaves
    • Cherries

Using a shaker filled with ice, mix all the above ingredients with the exception of overproof rum, grenadine, and garnish ingredients. Shake well to mix. Strain the mix over ice in a serving glass before adding grenadine and lightly layering overproof rum on top (for best results, use the back of a spoon to pour over). Complete by garnishing with an orange slice, mint leaves, and a cherry.
