Our main character, Nicholas Van Orton (played by Michael Douglas), has his life turned upside down after he accepts a birthday gift from his brother. The gift is a game tailored specifically for him to experience through the mysterious CRS company.
Nicholas has wealth and power, but is still an unhappy man haunted by a tragic family history. Once his game begins, his world unravels and he must face what he has done with his life as well as his own mortality.
