Co-hosts Jonathan C. Legat and Tricia Legat, along with their ever-stalwart producer Michael Noens, reunite once again with our special guest Pete Guither to discuss the 2014 science-fiction masterpiece, Interstellar. The conversation on the film's complex science and emotional core being only slightly muddied by the potency of the episode’s cocktail, "The Cooper."
From beginning to end, Interstellar showcases the beauty of existence itself and humanity’s place within it through the lens of science and the language of mathematics. Not surprisingly, the idea for this film began with a physicist.
Complete with space travel, time dilation, a wormhole, a futuristic space station, former military-issued artificial intelligence, and clues left by benevolent higher-dimensional beings, Interstellar is jam-packed with awe-inspiring adventure. Still, while our heroes race to save humanity from extinction, the heart of this story is the bond of love that connects us, especially the love between a parent and a child.
Interstellar challenges us to take a hard look at ourselves as a species, warts and all, and to believe in humanity, to be inspired, and to seek hope even in the darkest of times.
